Ms. Roberta Nesto Cavallino-Treporti’s Councillor for Tourism
"Cavallino-Treporti is a “nature reserve that nestles between the sea and the lagoon”, this is how I like to define the wonderful place we live in.
This recently established municipality (it became an independent entity after the split from Venice in 1999), boasts a highly original character thanks to its splendid natural environment made up of a myriad of breath-taking lagoon and seaside landscapes, beaches and waterways, and a waterfront of over 100 km.
Just a few miles away are the tegnue, unique rocky structures that are extremely important both for their exceptional biodiversity and the renewed fish population, a protected marine environment to be promoted and valorised also through a partnership with Veneto Regional Authority.
Not to mention our expertly farmed market gardens employing techniques that respect both nature and human health, historical sites and the services offered by our first-rate hospitality facilities.
Eating out is the feather in the Municipality’s cap. Cooking means passion, culinary tradition and promotion of the fruits of both land and sea, combined with the creative flair of local chefs.
By bike, boat or canoe, in absolute freedom ... Our tourism park offers a great many opportunities.
With special attention on the environment and awareness of connected issues, for the first time in 2006, Cavallino-Treporti was awarded the prestigious Navy Flag acknowledgement issued each year by FEE Italy to top beaches. The acknowledgment was renewed again in 2007.
The Navy Flag is awarded for the quality of the water, beaches and bathing facilities as well as safety measures and environmental education and the flag is therefore also a reflection of the hard work of public and private players in the environmental initiative sector and tourism services involving both holidaymakers and residents.
We are firmly convinced that the environment is a precious asset and that tourism must necessarily be combined with this value.
The valorisation and promotion of these extraordinary treasures and local services is one of the priority tasks of Cavallino – Treporti Municipal Authority – and it is therefore an honour for me to be here, at this important exhibition as Deputy Mayor and as Councillor for Tourism.
Our special thanks go to the management of the Tourism Promotion Consortium, aptly represented here by its deputy chairman, Mr. Paolo Bertolini, because the Consortium promotes the local area and the businesses that guarantee a vast and high-level range of tourism facilities with various forms of hospitality.
These entrepreneurs are supported by Cavallino – Treporti’s Municipal administration that fully exploits the Authority’s tourism vocation, by organising incoming and promotion projects.
We believe in important values and in projects of undisputable importance, in particular in the fact that Cavallino - Treporti is the homeland of tourism on all levels, further evidence of which is given by the fact that this year we come to the third edition of the “Hospitality Course”.
This unique initiative, the first in Italy, consists in a series of seminars intended for trade professionals and local residents who come into contact with holiday makers, with the aim of spreading a hospitality culture.
A new initiative that stems from the exploitation of the local area will be the promotion of the network of cycle paths, which are used by an ever-larger number of cyclists exploring the lagoon and the fisheries. In this setting that provides the venue for the organisation of dedicated events aimed at increasing the visibility of these natural, local marvels, the cycle paths will be extended by several kilometres and new signs will be introduced to make them even easier and more pleasant to use.
However, a unique environment and outstanding facilities also call for great professionalism and sense of hospitality to make guests feel at home at all times. This can be achieved by making the area hospitable, involving all residents and this is the aim of the free training offered by the Municipal Authority.
So .. We look forward to welcoming you to Cavallino-Treporti ... the land of hospitality and I will end with the Course slogan ... hospitality is like wheat, it grows in the most fertile soils"
