Somewhere between heaven and hell. In the middle of the universe and yet in the middle of nowhere: Ristorante Immortale. Everyday this micro cosmos opens its doors. A place without meaning, but with an untiring staff! A young, naive newcomer, with daffodils in his hand, who hopes to herald in a new era – but quickly learns to conform.

The vain ambitious headwaiter, who dreams of taking over the restaurant, needing to be the centre of attention, and constantly overshoots his mark. The boss, who valiantly carries all responsibility and steadfastly hopes that his business may flourish, although appearances go against it. And the senior waiter – almost part of the furniture – who should have retired long ago; only his idleness keeps him bound to this lost place. Last but not least the fat female chef, who, like a messenger from another world lives behind the serving hatch in the kitchen. She is her only customer and with lots of time to spare makes music on her accordion, and manages to prepare a fine musical feast at the side of the lost battlefield. Just as the days seem to turn in circles, so do the characters. In a world where life pivots around itself, a weird labyrinth of relationships, fears and dreams develops. The restaurant is the destiny of each of its inhabitants – of their dreams, of their memories – of themselves.

The company
It all began 1994 at the prestigious Folkwang Hochschule Essen for music, theatre, and dance where three students (Hajo Schüler, Stefan Ferencz and Markus Michalowski) started playing on their first ideas for a show which would by the end of 1996 be warmly remembered as FAMILY FLÖZ in many European countries. In the process of developing the play they soon found a director and friend in Michael Vogel. Encouraged by this first success they set out to create a new play. This time they where joined by Björn Leese, another graduate from Folkwang and by Paco Gonzalez, their former teacher. When they almost thought they were stuck with the new play Ilka Vierkant turned up and provided new inspiration and a powerful support for the play with her skilful performance on the accordion. The big success of Ristorante Immortale in Edinburgh 2001 opened doors for touring Europe and Australia and for finding partners for future productions. The following productions were “TWO% homo oeconomicus!” (2001), “Navigazioni” (2003), “Teatro Delusio” (2005), “InFinita” (2006), By now Familie Flöz is a pool of professional theatre makers: highly qualified actors, mimes, clowns, musicians, directors, mask-builders, dancers, stage designers, and light designers.
