The environmental manifesto
The sensitivity of Veneto’s businesses to this unique, precious environment has stimulated the creation of the environmental protection initiative of the ‘Veneto Quality and Environment Manifesto 2000’ that remains the most concrete active example of environmentally friendly tourism in Europe
The campsites that implement the ‘Manifesto’ are committed to protecting the environment by achieving ISO 14001 environmental certification through a common pathway subdivided into 70 requisites to be satisfied, to achieve a step forward not merely for the individual businesses, but rather Veneto’s entire tourism system. Participating campsites are subject to an inspection committee represented by members of international renown that organises and judges the seasonal environmental evaluations.
Assessment result evaluation is followed by the awarding of Golden Lions and Silver Lions depending on the achievement of ISO 14001 certification and compliance with the 70 environmental requisites set forth in the regulations.
Energy saving and a rational use of water resources are primary aims of the 70 points of the environmental manifesto; and the project’s reduction of motor traffic and differentiated waste collection are also key issues.
Great importance is given to the involvement of guests, who upon arrival receive indications regarding local natural issues, places to visit outside the facility, the rules and objectives of waste management, use of detergents, energy saving and a correct use of water.
